Cyndi Lauper于1953年在美国纽约布鲁克林区出生，12岁时开始学习吉他与创作，在1983年与CBS的Portrait唱片公司签约，并于年底发行了她的个人首张专辑【She Is So Unusual】，专辑当中首支单曲《Girls Just Want to Have Fun》迅速地达到排行榜亚军，而第二首抒情单曲《Time After Time》亦靠着动人的曲词和她那哽咽沙哑的嗓音演唱，打动了许多人的心，并且蝉连Billboard排行榜二周冠军，这首歌更为她赢得『葛莱美最佳新人奖』。after time
